England

Ninety-two clubs, a pyramid with no floor

The country that codified the game in 1863 and never stopped arguing about it. England's appeal isn't the Premier League billboards, it's the density. You can stand in almost any town and be within twenty minutes of a club with a hundred years of grudges, a cracked terrace and a pie counter that predates the offside law.
