The Trophy Cabinet

Nickname: United

Adopting Hayes & Yeading United means England FA Trophy results start mattering to you, a club going since 2007. Not a novelty, a habit.

Easy weekend
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is about 20km from the ground, and Woking railway station is 1km closer still. A home fixture is a genuinely doable two-night trip.
The calendar you inherit
England FA Trophy is cold-weather football: mud in February, breath visible under the lights, and a fixture list that rewards anyone who sticks it out. England does not do easy neutrals.
Ground floor
Founded in 2007. There is no dynasty to inherit and no bandwagon to be accused of joining, this is a club whose history you can genuinely watch happen.
Something to defend
The cabinet is not empty: Conference South and Isthmian League. Small enough to recite from memory, big enough to argue about in a pub.

Ground: Skyex Community Stadium, Hayes, Middlesex. Go in a day early, find the pre-match pub, buy the programme.
