Rīgas FS

Make The Case

Here is the argument for Rīgas FS: Latvia, Europe UEFA Europa Conference League, and a ground called LNK Sporta Parks. A second team should give you something your first one cannot, and this is a different country's whole weather system.

• The calendar you inherit

Following Europe UEFA Europa Conference League means odd kick-off hours, a new commentary language and a table you will check before your own club's. Latvia becomes part of your week.

• Ground floor

Founded in 2005. There is no dynasty to inherit and no bandwagon to be accused of joining, this is a club whose history you can genuinely watch happen.

• Something to defend

The cabinet is not empty: Latvian Higher League and Latvian Cup. Small enough to recite from memory, big enough to argue about in a pub.

• Close to the pitch

LNK Sporta Parks holds about 2,300. You can hear the defenders shouting at each other, which is the single best argument for lower-capacity football.
