Drumchapel United

Make The Case

Here is the argument for Drumchapel United: Scotland, Scotland Scottish Cup, and a ground called Donald Dewar Centre Drumchapel, Glasgow. A second team should give you something your first one cannot, and this is a different country's whole weather system.

• Home is home

Donald Dewar Centre Drumchapel, Glasgow is the address. Learn the walk from the station to the turnstile and you have most of what supporting a club actually is.

• You get a nickname

Known as The Drum. That is your new shorthand, your search term and your excuse for buying a scarf.

• Easy weekend

Glasgow Airport (GLA) is about 6km from the ground, and Drumchapel railway station is 1km closer still. A home fixture is a genuinely doable two-night trip.

• The calendar you inherit

Scotland Scottish Cup is cold-weather football: mud in February, breath visible under the lights, and a fixture list that rewards anyone who sticks it out. Scotland does not do easy neutrals.
